Volunteering

There are many ways parent volunteers can get involved at Diamond, including:

  • Working at the Diamond School Store (see more below)

  • Joining the Green Team, Social Committee, or Hospitality Committee (see more below)

  • Helping at a Teacher/Staff appreciation lunch

  • Chaperoning a student social

  • Joining the PTA Board

  • Helping at the Book Fair

Volunteer opportunities are announced, when available, in our weekly PTA newsletter. To learn how you can get involved, or for more information about any of the volunteer opportunities below, please contact us at diamondpta@gmail.com

School Store

The Diamond Store, organized and staffed by parent volunteers, is open every day during lunch blocks to sell school supplies. Working there is a fun and easy way to connect with students and teachers, to meet new parents, and of course, to spot your own offspring!

The two-hour shifts are Mondays through Fridays from 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM. Volunteers work in pairs, and have a shift every 4 to 6 weeks, usually on the same day. That makes about 5 shifts throughout the year. New volunteers are paired with experienced ones to learn the (very simple) store procedures. Please note that the schedule is set at the beginning of the school year, so please look out for the sign-up information sent out at the end of the summer.

Hospitality Committee

Whether you enjoy cooking, decorating, or event planning, this will be the perfect committee for you... (of course we also would never turn away a store bought item). The Hospitality Committee is a quick and easy way to volunteer.  This Committee coordinates decor and food contributions for staff-related events, including Teacher Appreciation Week.

Social Committee

The Social Committee organizes events to bring your fellow Diamond parents together, from morning or evening Principal Coffees, to evening socials at someone's house, to anything else someone might like to suggest.

Green Team

Our newly-founded Green Team supports the school in promoting recycling and composting during the day and at after-school events.
